Biography:
LeBaron Caruthers graduated from North Carolina State University where he was a double major and received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Philosophy. At North Carolina State he was named 3 time All-American in the shot put. LeBaron was a member of the 8th collegiate threesome to break 60 feet in the shot put. He received the 1977 Alumni Athletics Trophy at North Carolina State which represents the school?s top student athlete. He was a graduate assistant track and field coach at Auburn University from 1978 until 1980. The team won the 1980 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. He began his coaching career in collegiate strength and conditioning at Southern Methodist University in March of 1980. He was responsible for eight men?s and women?s sports. LeBaron was part of the football program that won the Southwest Conference Championship in 1981. LeBaron then spent 3 years with the New England Patriots from 1982- 1984 and 4 years with the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals from 1986-1989. His career continued at Alabama from 1990 until 1997. LeBaron was part of the football program that won the 1992 National Championship. In 1992, LeBaron was named the Collegiate Football Strength & Conditioning Coach of the year by the National Football League Strength & Conditioning Coaches. In 1995, he was named Southeastern Conference Strength & Conditioning Professional of the year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also assisted the men?s golf program and the baseball team that won the 1996 Southeastern Conference Championships. LeBaron went on to Baylor University in 1998 where he was part of the men?s baseball program that won the 2000 Big XII Championship and the men?s golf team that won the 2001 Big XII Championship. In November of 2002, LeBaron and his wife, Kim, opened the doors to Championship Speed and Strength in Waco, Texas to coach and teach young athletes speed and speed of movement. LeBaron, with Joe Beard, president of Westdale Asset Management in Dallas, Texas, and Kyle Rose, president of KA Associates in Celina, Texas, opened the Waco Sports Academy in December 2005. Since 2002, LeBaron has helped over 1,750 student athletes. In 2014, LeBaron was inducted into the Sanderson High School Athletics Hall of Fame. The joy of LeBaron?s career has been watching athletes under his charge improve and increase their self-esteem and self-confidence. He relishes time spent learning from other great coaches and athletes. LeBaron and Kim have been married for 31 years and are blessed with two sons: Chase, 27 and Lane, 26. LeBaron is a follower of Jesus Christ.
