High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): Application for Team Sports
Chad Workman came to Louisville in January 2019 and serves as an Assistant Director of
Sports Performance Coach. He oversees performance program design and implementation
for field hockey, men's soccer, and men's tennis. Within LP's unique Team of Teams
approach, Coach Workman leads the Speed Team as well as the Mentorship Team.
Coach Workman comes to Louisville after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning
coach at UNC Chapel Hill from 2015-2018. While there he was responsible for the
performance programs for field hockey, wrestling, men's and women's swim, track and field
sprint and jump squads, and women's tennis. Chad returns to Louisville having spent two
years with LSP as a graduate assistant in 2011-2013. Coach Workman has also had stints at
Virginia Commonwealth University and UNC-Greensboro as an assistant strength and
conditioning coach working with numerous Olympic sports.
Chad received a master's degree in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in strength and
conditioning from University of Louisville in 2013. He obtained a bachelor's degree in
Exercise Science from UNC Greensboro in 2009. Chad holds certifications through the NSCA
and CSCCa. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sports Administration at UofL.
Chad is originally from Thomasville, NC. He and his wife Kelly have a daughter, Davis. Chad
has competed in both powerlifting and weightlifting, but enjoys exploring different activities
such as bouldering, mountain biking, and hiking.
