Daniel Austin is currently the Speed, Strength, and Conditioning Coach at Oklahoma State University. During his career, he worked as a strength coach at Austin Peay State University, Tennessee State University, UNLV, as well as Mississippi State University.
Coach Austin, a former college football and soccer athlete, has excelled in Power Lifting, winning a total of nine Power-Lifting Championships. Dan holds the world record in the 148-pound weight class for the dead lift at 705 pounds, as well as in the 165 pound weight class at 744 pounds. In addition, he was awarded the overall best lifter in the 1991 and 1992 World Power Lifting Championships in the United States and was voted the greatest power lifter of all time in the 148-pound weight class.
He was the first lifter in the state of South Carolina to achieve Elite Status in Power Lifting, the highest ranking in the sport. His best squat is 735 pounds, his best bench is 420 pounds, and his best dead lift is 744 pounds.
Coach Austin has published articles in both Power Lifting USA and the NSCA journals. He holds an undergraduate degree from Newbury College and a Master's degree from Austin Peay State University. Coach Austin, a single father, is raising his 7-year old daughter Briana (pronounced like sauna).
