Shannon's passion for strength and conditioning started at an early age playing sports. Understanding that training and conditioning aided in preventing injuries and staying at peak performance. She received a bachelor's degree in Exercise sport science in December 2008 and a master's degree in human performance in May 2011 both from the University of Alabama. She started out working in strength and conditioning as an intern in April 2008 at the University of Alabama. She assisted Coach Michelle Diltz during her first year and half with women's basketball, softball, and women's golf. While working on her master's degree, she assisted a Coach Terry Jones with track and field along with swimming and Diving. During this time, she completed her mentorship under Coach Jones. She received her SCCC in May of 2011.
In August 2011, she accepted a position with Coach Richard Shaughnessy at Troy University. She has been at Troy 13 years. She has worked football, men's basketball, soccer, both tennis, and women's golf over the year. Her current sports are women's basketball and softball. She was apart of Sunbelt conference championships with men's tennis in 2015 and women's basketball in 2016, 2017, and 2020.
She has trained multiple athletes that are playing professional basketball and tennis. She received her USAW level 1 certification in 2012 and ACE fitness nutrition specialist in 2019. She currently handles all nutritional aspects for Olympic sports.
