Alvin started his career in strength and conditioning as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky University from 2007-2009. His primary sport responsibility was football while he also assisted with men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf.
In the fall of 2009, he was hired at Tennessee State University as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. He designed programs for men’s basketball, men’s track, women’s softball and assisted with football. In 2010 while at TSU, he was promoted to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and oversaw eight varsity sports. In his tenure there, he helped lead the football team to two consecutive winning seasons and to the second-round playoffs of the FCS NCAA.
In 2014, he was hired at Penn State University as an Assistant Director of Performance Enhancement. He was responsible for the physical development of the defensive backs for the football program. In the spring of 2022, he was promoted to Associate Director of Performance Enhancement. So far while at Penn State, Alvin helped lead the program to a Big 10 Championship in 2016 and 7 bowl appearances.
Alvin has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s degree in Kinesiology both from Western Kentucky University. He is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (C.S.C.S), the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (S.C.C.C) and is a U.S.A. Weightlifting Level 1 Sports and Performance Coach.
