Head Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Coac, University of Richmond
Beacher Porter joined the University of Richmond Strength and Conditioning Staff in May 2010 as an intern. During his time as an intern he worked with all 19 sports and was elevated to the part-time position in Aug of 2010. Upon completion of his degree program, in July 2011, he gained a full-time position where he directly oversaw Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Golf, and assisted with Football. In November of 2021 he was promoted to Head of Olympic Strength and Conditioning Coach.
During his tenure at the University of Richmond Coach Porter has had the honor to coach multiple All-CAA, All-A10, All-Patriot, All-American selections, and professional athletes. Coach Porter has also been honored to be a part of multiple CAA, A10, and Patriot League championships while working alongside those teams’ great coaches. Currently he oversees the three weight rooms, the internship program at the University of Richmond, as well as Women’s Lacrosse, assisting with Football, Women’s Golf, and Men’s Golf.
Coach Porter would like to thank Chris Stewart for the opportunity to intern under his mentorship, and for showing him how to be a strength coach. He would also like to thank Scott Brincks for showing him what it means to be a strength coach and for encouraging him to seek new ways of doing things and fostering Porter’s desire to learn.
Coach Porter is a registered coach by CSCCa, certified Level 1 USAW Coach, TPI Level 2 Fitness Professional, and an AASDN Nutrition Specialist.
A native of Chesterfield, VA he graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University. Coach Porter is married to the former Stephanie Shurtz and has two daughters; Reese and Lainey.
