Craig Fitzgerald was named Director of Football Strength & Conditioning at the University of South Carolina in January 2009. He came to Carolina from Harvard University where he held the title of Director of Strength and Conditioning, since April of 2005 where he trained the following teams: football, men's and women's basketball, wrestling, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's crew. Prior to his stint at Harvard, he served as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at his alma mater, the University of Maryland, from January 2000 to March 2005.
Before Maryland, Fitzgerald worked as a graduate assistant at Arizona State University. Prior to working at ASU, he served a two-year stint at the Catholic University of America as its Director of Strength and Conditioning. He began his professional career as a volunteer assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Maryland. He was a three-time letter-winner for the Terrapins football squad. Craig and his wife, Mary, have two sons, Mac and Joe.
