Director of Athletic Performance, Dallas Baptist University
Dave Trevino enters his fifth year as Director of Athletic Performance at Dallas Baptist University. Coach Trevino oversees three assistants and the 5,000 square foot Athletic Training Center, as well as the physical preparation for all 12 of DBU�?�¢??s Heartland Conference sports teams.
Prior to joining DBU, Dave served as the assistant director for the University of North Texas Strength and Conditioning Department (2011-2016). During his tenure with UNT he coached, designed and implemented athletic performance programs for football, softball, soccer, men�?�¢??s & women�?�¢??s track and field, men�?�¢??s & women�?�¢??s cross country and the swimming and diving team. Coach Trevino also served as the department�?�¢??s Mentorship Coordinator and as a Kinesiology Adjunct Instructor. His experience and oversight has proven influential in strengthening the department's internship program and his crossover into academia assisted in developing close relationships with the University's Kinesiology and Psychology Departments.
Before joining the North Texas Strength and Conditioning staff, Trevino spent the previous year as a strength and conditioning assistant coach for the New York Jets (2010-2011). While with the Jets, Dave worked hand in hand with the other three other strength coaches on staff, planning and implementing all aspects of the team�?�¢??s year round strength and conditioning program. Coach Trevino was specifically in charge of conducting the developmental training program, as well as, tracking Bod Pod body composition testing, administering the Functional Movement Screen and managing the daily nutritional supplementation needs of the athletes.
Prior to working with the Jets, Coach Trevino served as a graduate intern with the Mean Green from August 2009 through February 2010. While on staff he worked hands on with all of the Mean Green athletic teams, learning the ins and outs of all 13 varsity programs.
Dave completed his Masters of Science degree in Kinesiology at Texas A&M from August 2007 through December 2009. During his stint with the Aggies he committed a great deal of time as a graduate intern with the strength and conditioning department. He worked with multiple sports including football, men�?�¢??s basketball, men�?�¢??s and women�?�¢??s track & field, men�?�¢??s and women�?�¢??s cross country, volleyball, soccer, softball, men�?�¢??s and women�?�¢??s golf, and men�?�¢??s and women�?�¢??s swimming and diving. While at A&M Coach Trevino became professionally certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association - SCCC (2008).
Dave has also received experience training numerous athletes while serving as a strength and conditioning intern with Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning (2008), Athletes�?�¢?? Performance (2007), and Velocity Sports Performance (2006-2007).
Coach Trevino first called Denton home when he began his undergraduate degree at UNT in 2003. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas in 2007. After completion of his degree Coach Trevino became certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association �?�¢?? CSCS (2007).
